Broughton Park and the contiguous Clowes Park directly below it form a lovely place for family outings. There are extensive play facilities suitable for for primary-school-age children plus a beautiful small lake with a circular walk around it. The lake is home to a variety of ducks, and the combined parks feature many beautiful, mature trees.
My mother advises that the large stepping stones in the playground were around in her day (middle bronze age or thereabouts) I myself am not as young as I once was, yet some of the old toys are recognisable from the roaring 90s, with some rather exciting new additions. Unfortunately the mystery of what lay behind the old wall has now been laid bare - there are no haunted ruins of the old hall. From my online research, Reverend Clowes kept a magnificent collection of succulents in the greenhouse, but when Colonel Clowes inherited the old manorial pad, he spent two years doing it up, and then a memorable evening burning it down. Nowadays frequented by waterfowl and yingerlech.
Nice family park - I liked it because of the central lake and it's tucked within a residential estate. Cute.
