My son adores this place and we visit frequently, the staff are always so welcoming and the range of displays and information are brilliant! It’s always great to see the restoration projects in the background also! Grab yourself a brew and one of the children’s fun packs and away you go!

The Museum of Transport is an absolute gem for anyone fascinated by the history of road travel, particularly buses. Stepping inside feels like a genuine trip back in time, largely thanks to the incredibly preserved collection of classic vehicles. The highlight of the museum is undoubtedly the sheer number of old school and public service buses, each telling a unique story of local and national commuting. You don't just admire these relics from a distance—you can often climb aboard and truly immerse yourself. Seeing the driver’s seat of a vintage bus, with its massive steering wheel and old-school levers as seen in the photo, is a powerful reminder of how hands-on driving used to be. The front of the old Leyland bus you captured, with its classic "Temporary Conductor" sign and clear route details, perfectly evokes the era of bus conductors and manually changed destination blinds.

Really good displays of transport history. Equipment displays uniforms and ticketing. Take your children and show them a history of Manchester public transport. Also a comfortable well stocked tea room and gift shop.
