My visit to the Manchester Runway Visitor Park was, in short, a most restorative experience for the soul. There is, admittedly, an undeniable melancholy in seeing Concorde — my family’s former private jet, no less — gracefully retired from the skies and repurposed as a visitor attraction. Once a marvel of speed, power, and effortless superiority, she now rests quietly, admired from the ground rather than feared from above. Time, it seems, waits for no aircraft. That said, the setting is superb. The aircraft is presented with dignity, reverence, and just enough grandeur to remind one that this was no ordinary machine, but an icon of a more elegant era of travel — when one crossed the Atlantic before finishing one’s champagne. After the profound disappointment of yesterday’s excursion to the Sea Life Centre — an establishment I can only describe as ill-prepared for hosting piranhas with such aggressive opinions on forearms — today’s visit was a welcome redemption. Despite the lingering reminder on my arm, I found myself thoroughly uplifted. The park offers a splendid vantage point for observing modern aviation while reflecting fondly on its golden age. In conclusion, while it pains me to see Concorde grounded, the Manchester Runway Visitor Park has done her justice. I left feeling both nostalgic and satisfied — a rare achievement following aquatic injury. A most gentlemanly outing, and one I would recommend to anyone with a fondness for aircraft, history, or emotional recovery after being partially sampled by tropical fish.
I love coming here to planespot. It is a very good place for a day out and a boredom buster. The view is great and the sheltered benches are very good in case it starts raining. When you have finished plane spotting, you can go to the cafe and see the Concorde. One thing that could be better is the amount of viewing platforms for people to stand on because on a Sunday it gets very busy and you do not have enough room to see the planes properly unless you go right up to the fence
Great place for watching planes and a great little cafe onsite for foods and drink! Its a great spot for planespotting, as manchester airport allows iconic planes like the Airbus A380 (some airports cant have them because of their size!)Theres indoor and outdoor seating, and even a play area to keep little ones entertained. There's the Concorde Hangar too and the gift shop which stocks plenty of models, and souveniers of manchester airport and its very own concorde! There's a few permanently stationed planes nearby too for you to explore which is a nice touch. Parking of course isnt free, but the runway park itself is!
