I had an excellent experience at Indian Tiffin House, Carlisle, and I have been visiting the restaurant regularly because of the amazing food, great service, and pleasant ambience. Every visit has been satisfying, and the consistency in taste truly keeps me coming back. The day staff, Ms. Razeena, deserves special appreciation. She is a very kind, friendly, and professional person who makes customers feel welcomed and comfortable. Her signature dish, the mutton curry, is absolutely delicious—I enjoyed it continuously throughout the week because of its authentic taste and rich flavors. The restaurant also offers complimentary tea, which is a thoughtful gesture and adds to the overall positive experience. A Hidden Gem for Authentic South Indian Flavours! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you’re looking for more than just your standard curry house, this is the place to go. I recently visited and was blown away by the variety and quality of the food. The Peri Peri Chicken Wings: The spicy, tangy kick was exactly what I was looking for in a starter. Thattu Dosa: It’s rare to find authentic Thattu Dosa in Carlisle, and these were spot on—soft, fluffy, and paired perfectly with their chutneys. Biryani: The highlight of the night. It was fragrant, rich in spice, and incredibly satisfying. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming. It’s easily one of the most authentic Indian dining experiences in the city.
Having tried all other curry takeaways in Carlisle, this was my first time trying Tiffen after hearing good things. I walked in at 10pm half expecting it to be closed. The owner talked me through the whole menu, how they cook everything from scratch every day. Offered to taste some authentic south Indian dishes. I ordered a jalfreizi and asked if it could be milder than normal. They brought some out on a spoon for me to try before I took it away and even offered to cook it again if it was too hot. The owner give me a whole box of authentic side dishes for free to take home and try. Absolutely unbelievable service from the second I walked in. Those side dishes he gave me were absolutely amazing. I ate them all! The circular breaded chicken one was my fave and he knew it would be so he gave me two. Jalfreizi was lovely too, tasted sweet and just the right amount of heat for me. Can't wait to try again and have already recommended to others. Also looking forward to trying the £5 lunch deal!
