Bar Solo

Cracking little bar, nice location and friendly staff. We had a few drinks here the other weekend whilst celebrating our anniversary and bumped into some old pals so were there for quite a while, felt right at home - it is small, it can get busy - as can any bar. Everyone was having a good time and the atmosphere was mint

The atmosphere here is good and the staff were generally attentive. We were a group of five adults, all buying pints and wine, and overall the place has a nice vibe. However, the experience was let down by the manager’s attitude. We were with a one-year-old who is fussy about what she drinks, so we had a small drinks carton with us. The manager told us to put it away because it hadn’t been bought there, which in itself could have been handled reasonably. The issue wasn’t what was said, but how it was said. The approach was abrupt and abrasive, with no attempt at politeness or explanation. A simple, respectful request would have made all the difference, especially given that we were paying customers and the situation involved a baby. It’s a shame, because the venue has a lot going for it, but the manager’s manner really soured what should have been a relaxed visit. Management might want to focus on areas that need improvement rather than risking driving customers away, including basic maintenance, such as the missing toilet seat in the gents.

Had a beautiful pint of guiness here as a Irish women I'm hard to please and let me tell you the fella Ollie did well I mean speaks for itself. Staff are so lovely and atmosphere on a Saturday was unreal good shout if visiting Carlisle! Thank you
