About
A long-established bookshop in Carlisle with a mix of new and secondhand titles, including local history and Roman interest books. Spread across multiple floors with hidden rooms and nooks to explore. There’s a cafe at the back serving cakes and sandwiches, with outdoor seating in the gardens. The shop stocks sheet music and provides free bookmarks with purchases. Known for its varied selection, from fiction to niche subjects, with staff who share knowledge about the books. Nearby Cake & Ale is a short walk away for those wanting to extend their visit.
Customer Reviews
A quaint shop filled with both new and old books that had different categories. Went here for the manga section and they didn't have that much of a selection. Under 5 manga displayed which was a shame but as a whole, a great place to visit for some interesting finds of interesting books.
Eating outside was lovely, the gardens were wonderous but the wasps came and gorged on my cranberry sandwich and the seagulls looked me threateningly in the eye so I had to give in! It's a lovely indoor space as well with a beautiful bookshop
My absolute favourite secondhand bookshop! Picked up a delightful bag of books on my most recent visit. I love all the hidden rooms and nooks, you can easily spend hours in here. Luckily, Cake & Ale is a handy stroll next door through the back of the bookshop for a pause, rest and refill.
