About

Creighton RFC is a sports club in Carlisle with a function room for events like weddings and parties. It has TVs showing sport, a bar serving pints, and space for darts. The venue hosts cricket matches and welcomes families with kids. Plastic glasses are used outdoors. Champagne flutes and prosecco glasses are not provided for toasts—guests must supply their own. The club is known locally as a place to watch games and hold gatherings.

Creighton have recently changed their opening times and policy to local suppliers opening only shortly before event starts and insisting on midnight collections. Last weekend when I was there 5 of us were stood outside waiting to get in and had just 10 minutes to install items that customers had paid for. When challenged on this, they simply didn’t want to discuss it. This policy will now mean I charge a surcharge to any customers booking this venue with me as I will have to pay staff to collect at midnight. So all they’re really doing here is making the customer pay my staff instead of theirs. Not very clever.

Great place but introducing plastic glasses outside is a killer mistake. No one else in Carlisle is doing it and it's very off putting. Unless policy reverts back to allowing us to drink out of a glass, me and friends will be drinking else where. Happy to delete this review if that time hopefully comes. Beer prices up and membership up I completely get but from a business point of view, plastic glasses is a death wish.
