Definitely a hidden gem, the hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean, and the staff are extremely helpful. the food is absolutely delicious and has a big bar area with lots of choices of beverages. Vallum House Hotel has a beautiful big garden to the rear of the hotel with plenty of parking spaces, a great venue for small weddings and other functions! It's definitely a must visit place.
My wife and I stayed here for a night while walking Hadrian’s Wall Path. The accommodation is in a quiet (residential), convenient location, not far from the path and saves walking into the town at the end of a longish walk from Bowness-on-Solway. The accommodation is a little dated but the decoration is all in very good condition and our room was clean and very comfortable. Elaine was extremely welcoming and, although the kitchen was closed on a Monday night, on booking she offered to cook us a simple meal. We accepted her kind offer and were glad we did: we had a lovely meal – just what we wanted after a full day walking. A very good freshly cooked breakfast set us up for the next day. Recommended for a stopover while walking ‘The Wall’ or a short break in Carlisle.
A very nice place to stay. just outside Carlyle. Quite., very easy to find. Not far from the highway. Only minutes from places to eat. Great breakfast,supper clean rooms and linen. Fantastic service. Excellant value for money.
