About

This independent deli and bakery in Penrith is known for its handmade pies, including steak and pork with apple, as well as fresh breads, pastries and quiches. The shop stocks a range of local produce, from chutneys and jams to Cumbrian tea and coffee. Their fruit scones have a notably soft texture, while hot pasties and soup are also available. The selection includes homemade cakes, fudge and deli items like ham. Many products are made locally, with chutneys such as Mr Vikki's tomato and nigella seed featuring among the shelves.

All the items we bought from James and John Graham were stunning. The steak pie is up there with the best I’ve ever had and the pork and apple pie and focaccia loaf were also excellent. The staff are really friendly and the selection of high end, great quality produce is huge.

We opted for this place over a Greggs and soooo happy we did! Everyone that served us was friendly and more then happy to help, nothing was too much. Whilst waiting for my friend outside I witnessed one of the members of staff helping a little old lady and her walker out the shop and down the step. This type of service is often forgotten at the big chains. The Cornish pastys were so good we went back in to buy more for the family. This is the type of place I'd be more then happy to spend my money in.
