A great day out at Lowther Castle & Gardens! This is a well kept location with a number of fun and exciting things to do with a good mix of beauty, history and a range of vegetation that I recommend exploring the grounds completely. There are a number of hidden treasures here allowing for moments of calm too.
I just had lunch today at the castle’s cafe and I wanted to leave a review as the food was really nice and homemade, lots of gluten free options which I really appreciated. The staff were kind and friendly and made me and my dog welcomed. They even offered a snack to my little dog. The gluten free cake was really yummy and well priced. A lovely dog friendly cafe where I look forward to be back and I’m happy to recommend.
So sad that this place was more or less demolished in 1957. However, its grounds and surrounding estate are now being brought back into use as an intriguing visitor attraction. Great walks, cycle rides and a developing garden. Well worth a visit.
