About
The Alhambra Cinema is a historic independent movie theatre with three screens, including its largest in Screen 1. Known for its nostalgic charm, it retains original features like vintage seating and a compact confectionery counter serving popcorn and drinks. The cinema shows current releases alongside occasional classics, with accessible pricing and a town-centre location. A lift and disabled facilities are available, though some areas have steps. Staff engage warmly with visitors, reflecting the venue’s longstanding role as a local cultural fixture. The building’s character and affordability make it a distinctive alternative to multiplexes.
Customer Reviews
Very friendly staff, very clean toilets. Lovely old cinema with big, comfy old seats. £5 adult ticket price. Plenty of popcorn, drinks, and snacks are available.
One of the family's main goals to visit when visiting Penrith! Watched Ant Man Quantumania in Screen 1 (their biggest screen), and was enjoyable with approx 15 other people in the audience. £5 tickets for students and children, with £6.50 for adults; popcorn in a small size costing £3 and once you leave, you're able to buy £1 large past film posters!! If wanting to watch in 3D, it would be in Screen 2, with an increased cost for tickets and an additional fee of £1 for the 3D glasses you're able to keep. Cinema staff are lovely, and the building itself is beautiful! Will definitely recommend for anyone visiting the Penrith area and will definitely visit again soon!
Like going back in time, especially as we saw the final Downton Abbey film. The cinema has three screens, a small confectionery and drinks facility, a lift and disabled toilet though some steps may be encountered. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The Alhambra is a credit to Penrith.
