About
Lakeside Car Park is a convenient parking area near Derwentwater, serving as a practical base for exploring Keswick. It’s known for its proximity to the lake, with boat rentals and duck-feeding spots nearby, as well as a short walk to Friars Crag. The car park has toilets and is a short distance from the theatre and ferry. Payment can be made via an app, though some visitors note issues with extending stays remotely. Parking spaces are plentiful, and there’s easy access to a circular lakeside walk. Views of the sunset over the water are a highlight.

Beautiful place to visit, the car park is a 5 minute walk from the water, there are toilets and a few quirky shops, you can rent a boat and buy duck food to feed the birds, worth a visit whatever the weather.
Great long stay parking for keswick toilets on site 50p. Plenty of space. Nice walk along the lakes edge to Friars Crag just a short walk along.
We overnighted here using the 1 day with overnight option on the MIPERMIT app, only downside was I couldn’t extend before it had run out, but my partner was able to initiate a new payment on his phone halfway up Skiddaw! Quiet clean car park with dog walking (and washing in the lake!) plus good coffee at The Moon and Six with public toilets (which we didn’t use).. The boardwalk loop around Derwentwater was beautiful and accessible. No grey or black waste and no water which was a shame. Poor data coverage; one bar max. Would definitely stay here again and book into the lakeside theatre adjacent. Short walk into Keswick, would recommend Brunches for breakfast and the Dog and Gun for beer, goulash and to meet other decent folk! Also Setmabanning caravan park great for hookup and water with good access to dog walks and reasonably priced. One thing that could be improved (across the country) and that’s the rubbish/recycling; the attendant said they didn’t separate rubbish because of people’s lack of knowledge/ability to execute which seems a sad state of affairs.
