Needle Sports

I have never felt more belittled. It’s a real shame because my online orders and previous in person encounters have been fine. I was trying to find a climbing harness and helmet that would fit me. As a female, working in the outdoor industry, I struggle finding a brand and size that fits my body for work based climbing. The main person i worked with was great and happy to let me try on 5+ to find the right fit, weight and of course choice of colour. While he was unpacking a harness for me to try on the elder gentleman, I can only assume to be the owner.. tried to sell on something completely out of my price range in a very aggressive manor ‘because it’s what the Olympians wear’. His language, demeanour and way of coming across was incredibly pushy and aggressive. I put on a smile and carried through but it wasn’t until he noticed my husband in the back ground witnessing his attitude he left. He made me feel small, told me “I didn’t know what I was talking about” even though I’ve been climbing for 15+ years, and overall made me feel uncomfortable. As I said, the younger man was incredibly helpful and I ended up buying both a helmet and harness that I needed but feel overall I will not buy from this local company because of the way I was treated. It’s a shame. I will take my ongoing business elsewhere.

This is a great shop. We were offered detailed advice about trekking poles by a guy from the shop who clearly knew what he was talking about! We didn't buy at that point but I took photos and have just gone online and bought the product from Needle Sports online.....with free delivery. Thank you for the advice, it definitely influenced me to buy from your shop!

Love this shop - always visit here when coming to Keswick. Great for all our climbing needs, friendly staff etc and always end up buying something. Also really good to see that they don’t allow dogs on wet days as one of the other shops I went into today had wet dogs getting mud all over stuff I wanted to buy.
