Castlerigg Farm has been my #1 go-to campsite for the past few years in the Lakes for the (not limited to) following: Walkable into Keswick or a few minutes drive, an excellent base for exploring the Lakes. Beautiful panoramic views and a well-laid out, spacious campsite. Very friendly and helpful owners and competitively priced. The best amenities of any campsite - incredible massive shower/toilet block, dry room, washing up room, tuck shop, room with hobs/microwaves/toaster/kettles, etc (powered by purchasable tokens), electric hookups, etc. Raised fires/bbqs permitted (be considerate and never scorch earth). Can't wait to return once the refurb is finished!

We had a fantastic experience on this site. |Arrived on August 30th and we were racing against the weather to get our tent set up before the wild weather hit. |The weather hit that evening, it shattered two tent poles and collapsed the front, ripping a hole in the roof. |After a quick visit to the farm shop the next day I have to make special mention of the two ladies on duty. |The shop didn’t have any pole replacements but they rallied round and found a bag of left behind bits and pieces which meant we could make the tent safe and secure again. |They seemed genuinely concerned that our holiday was on the cusp of being left in tatters, even checking availability of more sheltered pitches and checking the weather to help convince us to not cut and run. |I’m incredibly grateful for their help and interest in the quality of our stay, which was brilliant. |The views from the site is superb, I have never seen so many rainbows ( yes it rained for most of the remaining week on and off but it’s the Lakes after all). |Facilities are very well kept and with plenty of sinks and shower cubicles. |Great additions were the boot room and the conservatory with tables, chairs and microwave a fabulous idea for backpackers and small tents when the rain really started coming down. |Ideally placed for lots of local walks as well as the touristy things to do. |Overall, thanks to the two ladies on the desk, our week turned out to be fantastic despite the weather and we would certainly come back.

Love this site and been several times but was spoilt by two families who were pitched close and did not care about their fellow campers. Swearing was very inappropriate especially when they had three young children between them. Shouting, swearing, fire was on past 10pm and ruined the peace snd quiet. Not the sites fault but might be wise to do a walk around to see exactly what is happening on site. If I hadn’t had a glass of wine with my pub lunch I’d have left early cutting my trip short.
