About

A student dormitory set near woodland and fields outside Whitehaven, Summergrove Halls also accommodates coach tour groups and short-stay visitors. The rooms are basic but clean, with some overlooking wooded areas where rabbits are often spotted. There’s an on-site restaurant serving meals, including occasional BBQs, and a bar that sometimes hosts private functions. A gym with cardio equipment is available for guest use. Staff are noted for being welcoming and helpful to arriving guests, including those arriving late. The surroundings include sheep fields and greenery, giving it a rural feel despite its proximity to Whitehaven.

after long hot bus journey from C ornwall and heading home to Scotland we arrived here for our one night stopover. We arrived later (8pmish) than anticipated but were met with nothing but smiling, obliging and very helpful staff. Although we were most definitely arriving in restaurant at end of their shift the staff here also went above and beyond to serve us with great professionalism and with good grace. well done all staff. Room - certainly no frills but more than adequate and clean. Food to a very good standard.

We stayed with a coach trip. The 2 ladies from reception were lovely. Our room was good on the first floor & we had a lovely view of the woods & saw bunnies twice a day!! It's surroundings are woods & fields of sheep very soothing & calming. The food was good & plentiful. We had both breakfast & dinner. The front of house staff was lovely nothing was too much for them. My husband & I wanted to eat outside since it was the heatwave & they bought cutlery & our food & drink outside for us. It's a lovely hotel. A word of warning the showers are very powerful &can't be reduced so you will need a shower cap.

We stayed here on a National bus trip to the lakes. On arrival we were greeted by three very pleasant and smiley young ladies who welcomed everyone and directed us to our rooms. ||||This hotel has two areas, one area has the self catering rooms and kitchen, the other part which we were in was rooms only. It is a gentle, level walk along to the rooms and we were helped by a friendly porter.||||The room was quite adequate for two of us, with large flat screen TV and the usual tea, coffee, kettle etc. In the small bathroom was a walk in shower with a high fixed shower head and to shower effectively for me was difficult, but that's the only slight negative.||||Mealtimes were extremely enjoyable in the lovely dining room. We were served by a team of extremely efficient young waiters and waitresses who were exceptional to say the least. The food was very tasty and the servings generous. Drinks are served from the well stocked restaurant bar and brought to the table for you. Easily the best dining experience we've had on the National coach trips.||||Throughout our stay we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.
