Had the Winter warmer special, two meals for £20 and it was tasty and excellent value. Piping hot and sufficient at this price point. Friendly staff and a nice open space. Highly recommended. PS .. the negative reviews on here are from the previous owners which is unfortunate as they cannot be erased apparently.

The Briery is a true hidden gem. Peaceful, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by nature, it’s the perfect place to unwind and reset. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The food is excellent — fresh, home-cooked, and thoughtfully prepared, adding to the overall sense of care and quality. What really stands out is the genuine kindness of the staff. A wonderfully restorative stay.

Where do I start absolutely awful in fact I have never had a worse meal. I don't like leaving bad reviews so I will start with the positive. The only thing positive was the young waitress, tall with long brown hair ( I don't know her name but she worked there when Mark Greenaway had the pub) She was very polite welcoming and she must be fed up with the amount of complaints that people make if their meals were like ours. Anyway she was the only positive. Thursday 5/2/26 we entered at 18.45 it was empty apart from one couple who were almost finished. We sat down and were told that there was no steak (my daughter was going to order steak) anyway no problem we will order something else. We ordered three soft drinks but we were told that they only had one straw. I ordered chilli con carne but a few minutes later I was told that there was no rice. Eventually I decided on Cumberland sausage with mashed potatoes and gravy, Cumberland sausage with chips and a children's meal. To go with the side salad my daughter asked for some coleslaw. A few minutes later we were told that there was no coleslaw , never mind we asked for some salad cream. A couple of minutes later we were told that there was no salad cream either. My Cumberland sausage with mashed potatoes and gravy was uneatable, I had a bite from the sausage that was like rubber and hard, tasteless, the mashed potatoes were hard and tasteless and the gravy was literally granules in water, I left the meal. My daughter, Cumberland sausage with chips , the chips were Luke warm and over done warm ups, she managed to eat half of her sausage but left the chips. The child's meal was eaten apart from the sausage (kids sausage actually looked nicer than ours) Nobody else came in whilst we were there. It was a total let down the place is a joke. By the look of it, it won't be long until it closes down. It's such a shame as the food was superb when Mark Greenaway had it. As I have said the only asset that the restaurant has is the young waitress. We went there also at New year, seven of us, we sat down ordered drinks and were then given a big list of the food that they didn't have, we paid for our drinks and left without ordering. This should have been a lesson on not to return. I will leave a couple of photos in which the food doesn't look that bad, but believe me it was not good.
