About
A long-standing deli in Workington, this spot is known for its cooked takeaway food, sandwiches, and buffet options. The menu includes breakfast wraps, pie and gravy lunch boxes, and daily specials like hot pot with black pudding. They also provide afternoon teas and catered buffets, with sandwiches delivered on trays for events. The caramelised onion is a noted choice among their fillings. Parking can be tricky due to its location on a busy road, but it remains a well-regarded takeaway option in the area.

Was working up these ways few months ago food was lovely hot pot with black pudding was heavy and the mixed meat salad box was tidy the girls in the shop are sound unfortunately its to far to travel from Liverpool for that salad box now 🤣🤣
Delicious food cooked to perfection every time A little slower than most local establishments at serving which is problematic due to location on a busy road/ yellow lines Definitely one of Workingtons best food take outs
A local legend for all the right reasons! If you’re looking for a hot food/sandwich place then Al’s Kitchen should be on your list, an extensive menu of high quality foods, exciting daily specials and a good choice of snacks/cakes and drinks. I luckily used to live around the corner from Al’s which is when I first tried it - after hearing nothing but good things about the place. Al’s isn’t quite in the town centre and does require you to travel to the area specifically but it’s worth the trip! The place isn’t exactly huge inside but if you catch it at the right time you won’t have to wait long, I got here at 11:30 before the lunch rush and was served and back out of the shop within 3 minutes. I went for the immensely popular Cumberland sausage and caramelised onion baguette, it was divine! The sausage was really high quality meat and the onions were rich and flavourful inside of a soft buttered baguette… Overall, Al’s Kitchen is well known to the locals for good reason, the staff are always friendly and the food is always top notch, you can’t ask for much more than that! Please note that parking can be a nightmare here as it’s on-street disc parking in a residential area, look around Hartington Street for more spaces.
