Delightful museum full of interesting history and artefacts. Warm and inviting and decorated for Christmas. Everyone made me very welcome and even set the symphonium going to play 'silent night'. Lots of local sports memorabilia and items from the local industries. Useful to walk across the road and view the ruins of Workington Hall in the park. Helena Thompson was a fascinating lady and deserves more recognition not just in Workington. Don't miss the cafe which is very reasonably priced. Great mug of tea! Check the website for opening hours for museum and cafe before visiting . Sometimes it is closed for functions and events.
A very charming little museum with a wonderfully eclectic mix of exhibits. Everything feels lovingly put together and full of character. There’s also a small café which adds to the cosy atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy small, characterful museums.
Fabulous local museum. Not stuffy and crammed with lots of local history. Discover when Mary Queen of Scots visited Workington and when coal mining and iron and steel flourished in the town. Lots of interactive fun for kids. It hosts weddings etc and has beautiful gardens. Also hosts exhibitions. Within walking distance of town centre . And check out the amazing café
