This former RAF airfield near Carlisle is now a base for light aircraft and gyrocopters, with a focus on recreational flying. It hosts fly-in events where visitors can see various aircraft, and gyrocopter training is available. The site is also a launch point for scenic flights over the Lake District. From time to time, open days showcase aviation activities, drawing enthusiasts.

A very useful airfield to stop at if you need to refuel. An even better airfield if they have a fly in, where you can see all types of aircraft. There is still a Gyrocopter fraternity with the main flight instructor Chris Jones. Chris not only teaches people to fly Gyrocopters he also does scenic tours of the lakes . The experience of seeing the lake from an open top Gyrocopter is stunning. Chris is an excellent pilot and all round interesting guy. You can find more information on his website.
Went to go flying grycopters over the lake district, but was one of the few areas in UK that had heavy rain, so couldn't fly.
A smashing event, open day and fly in… The team made it work despite the low level clouds etc…
