Chapel Bank Cross is a historical landmark on a hillside overlooking Workington, known for its dramatic coastal and town views. The site features a memorial cross with a personal backstory, though the details are left for visitors to discover. The walk up is steep but rewards with panoramic vistas across the Irish Sea, the harbour, and the surrounding fells. It’s a favoured spot for photography and quiet reflection, with paths that suit both walkers and cyclists. The cross itself serves as a poignant tribute, while the location remains a peaceful vantage point for taking in the landscape.
Customer Reviews
There's a heartfelt story behind the cross but il let you find that out for yourself Nice walk/ride over the hills with calming peaceful views looking both up and down the coast, the harbour, the town and over to the mountains
Lovely view from the top, bit of a steep hill but worth it.
Great vantage point for photos or just admire the sea view or view inland if Workington and the fells. As for the cross itself it's one mans tribute but on a personal level I'm not a fan.
