About
A former industrial site transformed into a scenic viewpoint, Slag Bank provides sweeping panoramas of Workington, the Irish Sea, and distant landmarks like Scotland and the Isle of Man. The gently sloping walk to the top passes a memorial cross and rewards with views of the Lake District fells. A free car park at the base provides access, while low tide reveals a sandy beach nearby. Originally formed from steelmaking waste, the elevated terrain now serves as a vantage point for coastal and mountain scenery.
Customer Reviews
Beautiful area on the tops of the slag banks overlooking Workington with the snow capped mountains on one side and the Irish Sea on the other. Good for a morning walk. Avoid walking on the clearly designated dangerous areas. Car parking at Solway Beach/Shore. Jesus Christ is even up their overlooking the town. Who needs Rio De Janeiro?
A short but invigorating walk up is rewarded with a great view
Gently sloping climb to the top and in this occasion a view not only over a large part of Workington but also Scotland and the Isle of Man. Free car park at the bottom and a sandy beach at low tide accessible from it. An enjoyable half hour walk there and back
