About
A charity shop supporting the RSPCA’s work in Cumbria, this Whitehaven thrift store accepts donations of preloved items. It’s known for its occasional presence of kittens, likely linked to the organisation’s animal welfare focus. The shop has a mix of secondhand goods, with proceeds going towards the charity’s local efforts. Staff interactions are frequently mentioned as a positive aspect of visits.
Customer Reviews
This happened a few weeks back but I think it's worth mentioning- partner and I visited on a weekday half an hour before closing. We hadn't visited this charity shop before so we wanted to have a look around. We were greeted by two members of staff in which one of them (woman behind the till) loudly shouted "can't you read the opening times? We're closing soon!". We assured her that we wouldn't take long (still had half an hour to go before closing) and our every move was watched by the two of them in complete silence until we left. I'm all for supporting charities, but staff need basic customer service skills first and foremost. I haven't stepped foot in this shop since and have advised others not to do so. Such a shame.
I and many others have made complaints about a guy abusing his dogs in the area of Beckermet. And nothing gets done!! Stop donations to an organisation that doesn't act when 10 people or more have made the same complaint about him. All you get on the phone is a telephone handler with no power and says complaints are meant to be logged online. USELESS and everyday I see adverts on TV begging for more money, all driving around in new vans and saying they have limited funds. What a joke!!
love the friendly easy going vibe with the staff, and that sometimes there are kittens!
