About
A large pub chain venue in a historic building, serving breakfast and all-day meals including large cooked breakfasts with optional extras like black pudding and bacon. There are guest ales alongside standard lagers, with occasional deals on drinks. Food is served quickly, and the space accommodates groups of different sizes. The interior features information about local history. Some visitors come for budget-friendly meals, while others stop in for pints during the day. The app allows for ordering, and the location near the waterfront makes it convenient for passing trade.

2025.11 Wetherspoons, Bransty Arch, Whitehaven. After some medical treatment involving no food intake, I went straight to Spoons for an all-day brunch and it faithfully restored my wellbeing.
Staff always very friendly, the guest ales nearly always taste of dishwater. Had a kirkby lonsdale one today, expected it to be poor and was worse than that. Steer away from the guest beers and its worth a visit.
I decided on a relatively early pre-10am large breakfast, with extras of bacon, black pudding, tomato, and two pints of beer - because at 99p a pint for Worthington's why not? Food was very tasty, arrived hot - even the beans - which friends advise may not be, service was friendly, quick and convenient via the app, beer well looked after, prices very reasonable. Tempted to try lunch here sometime - but I really dislike it it in here when it's noisy, which it is when busy, so I tend to avoid it here. This breakfast on the other hand is something I will definitely do again. Earlier in the day rather than later. As I write this it has just turned 10:15am, is getting busier and has reached the point I find the noise difficult. Some basic acoustic treatment on the multiple flat surfaces such as areas of ceiling and walls wouldn't go amiss to help those similarly afflicted as me. (I can't cope with the noise in here when it's busy). Only one other minor negative, the gents slightly pongy, but they did look clean. In summary: Would I do breakfast here again? When it's quiet, definitely, it's excellent value and great service.
