This Chinese supermarket is known for its extensive range of groceries, including fresh produce, seafood, and a variety of goods from China, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia. It stands out for its selection of items, from noodles to vegetables, catering to diverse tastes and cuisines. From time to time, there are discounts on products with short expiry dates. The aisles are well-stocked, and the cashiers are noted for their helpfulness. It has become a reliable spot for those exploring Asian ingredients and essentials.
Customer Reviews
I’m not a local customer of this branch, but I am leaving this review for head office because of how they have handled (or rather, not handled) a serious complaint about their Liverpool store. Recently I wrote a detailed formal complaint to head office about the Liverpool branch manager’s behaviour towards both customers and staff. In that store, a manager openly talked about “punishing” a young student cashier in front of us, simply because the cashier had previously accepted my boyfriend’s official University of Liverpool timetable app for a student discount. The same manager then raised her voice at us, refused to even look at the app, and later used the store’s official owner account on Google to write a reply in the third person, claiming that she (as the cashier) had been “pressured” by us – even though the description clearly matched her own behaviour as the manager in that incident. In my complaint to head office, I included the dates, a clear description of what happened, and screenshots of their public replies where they literally say they have “punished the cashier with a bad attitude” in response to another customer’s review. This is not a one-off slip of the tongue, but a pattern of how management talk about their staff. So far, head office has not even acknowledged my email. No “we’ve received it”, no indication that they take concerns about staff treatment or customer experience seriously – just complete silence. For me, that silence from the top is almost more worrying than the original incident. It suggests that they are happy for branch managers to talk about “punishing” cashiers in public, feel no urgency to investigate when customers raise concerns about bullying and intimidation of young student staff, and show little interest at head office level in consistent standards, safeguarding or accountability. If you care about how a company treats both its customers and its own employees, I would think twice before supporting a business whose head office ignores this kind of complaint.
A Chinese grocery in the China Town of Manchester. Amongst the groceries in China Town, Blue Whale has the completed range of goods that it makes Blue Whales a very good bussiness. The choices of goods are not limited to produces, or Chinese or Thai condiments, types of hot brand of Korean instant noodles, but it includes kinds of fresh fruits, frozen fishes, live brown crabs, live lobsters, live king crabs and ready-made foods. Drinkers can also find a limited numbers of Chinese wines, Japanese Nishonshu and some Korean soju (소주). Customers can register as members of the grocery by providing their phone numbers so that members can have members' discounts on some grocery items. Prices of the grocery are reasonable. What makes me go on shopping in Blue Whale because I don't have to climb up and down stairs to basement to the shopping hall like others groceries in the China Town. A good news to customer. Do forget there is a 10% discount when you buy sea foods only on Sunday.
Went in for first time this week as wanted a bigger selection, girl called Nicole who was working was so helpful and friendly as I wasn’t sure what some of the vegetables were and some noodle flavours. She also helped me find my favourite green grape drink! Will definitely be back because there is so much to try!
