Customer Reviews
Visited GAIL’s King Street and overall had a good experience. The quality is definitely there — well-made coffee, fresh pastries, and nicely filled sandwiches that are clearly made with good ingredients. Everything we tried tasted great and was presented well. That said, it does feel a bit over-hyped and on the pricey side for what you get. You’re paying a premium for the brand and setting as much as the food itself. The space is lovely and modern, and it’s a nice place to sit and catch up over coffee, but value-wise it doesn’t quite live up to the buzz.
Gail’s Bakery is one of those sweet, reliable spots that won’t disappoint — though it’s probably not a place where you’ll say you’ve had the most mind-blowing flavours of your life. One of its biggest highlights is the seating: lovely street-view tables on the main floor, plus plenty of space downstairs, which makes it feel comfortable almost any time of day. We went for the chocolate chip cookie and the blueberry custard brioche. Both were enjoyable and nicely made, but not quite the best sweets I’ve ever had. The coffees, however, were very pleasant and paired well with everything. It’s a great spot whether you’re popping in solo or meeting up with friends or family, and the location is another big plus. Overall, a cute and dependable bakery that’s always a safe choice.
Gail’s is a lovely local staple. My absolute favortie is the pecan crumble cake, it’s a must-try. The hot chocolate and sea salt caramel, banana & pecan cake were alright. There’s also extra seating & a restroom downstairs. They tend to sell out of the best bakes by 4:00 PM, so get there early. Service is a bit of a mixed bag. While most of the team is wonderful, I’ve encountered a few staff members who were quite dismissive. The place is wheelchair friendly and super accessible on the ground floor. ♿️
