Customer Reviews
It has been several years since we were at The Castlefield Hotel so it was very nice to be back. The hotel is in a great location, with a convenient adjacent car park, which is really good, however it didn't seem as secure to us as on other visits, which was disappointing. Previously we have had to press buzzers to go in, get a validated ticket & code to access the gate to the hotel itself. When we were there on this occasion we simply drove in and the gate to the towpath was just wide open.|We arrived early but as our room was ready were able to check in at no extra cost. Staff as always were lovely and very helpful. Our room (313) overlooked The Castlefield Bowl & canals, so a lovely view. The room was a spacious double & could probably accommodate some comfy seating near the window to make the most of those views. The bathroom was a reasonable size, clean but with a sensor light that had mind of its own! It didn't stay on very long at all, which when you are using the bathroom is a bit of a nuisance to have to keep waving your arm to activate it again. Then there were times when it came on randomly in the middle if the night if a nearby door closed!|We enjoyed using the pool at the Y gym, which is free to guests & a definite bonus to any stay here. We really like the hotel's charitable links with The YMCA. Breakfast on both days was good & it wasn't a problem to get poached eggs cooked to order. The coffee from the machine has definitely improved since were last here and is quite flavourful. The yoghurts are extremely good quality. It might be nice to have a couple of cold meats to add to the continental offer.|We had a drink in the bar one evening and there were a few 0% alcohol offerings which was good to see. The staff on duty asked me about other alcohol free options I could recommend and said they would speak to managers about this. Hopefully one or two more might appear in the future but good that they are interested in customer feedback & recommendations. |Overall a very pleasant stay and a great choice of hotel that is close to the city centre, theatres and concert hall, but in a quieter location . It was good to be back at The Castlefield.
We stayed here when e were attending a show at the Aviva studios so it was in an ideal location. It was quite busy for a Thursday night. The staff are lovely and friendly. The room was really spacious and tidy. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear people shutting their doors and talking - but I have insomnia and it didn’t keep me awake. ||The breakfast buffet looked plentiful. I was catered for as a gluten and lactose free guest. ||You can use the pool facilities if you stay in the hotel - which I would have done if I had had more time.
We had an absolutely relaxing Friday night stay for visiting Level 42 at The Bridgewater. We had a fantastic time here.. Room was lovely and clean. Room was spacious. My only concern as with many hotels that they should have 2 chairs for 2 guests. Breakfast was basic. Could have improved with fresh orange juice and fresh fruit. Cereals consisted of about 6 individual packets of cereals. Toiletries in the room need to be upgraded and maybe invest in a branded non paraben/ sulphate make.. overall staff very nice and would definitely book again..
