About
This historic pub is one of Manchester’s oldest buildings, originally constructed in the 16th century and later relocated near the cathedral. Known for its traditional British menu, it serves dishes like steak and ale pie and fish pie. The top floor features a vaulted wooden ceiling, while the bar area includes a selection of dark and white beers. Situated near the Christmas market and AO Arena, it draws visitors looking for a classic pub experience. The building’s timber-framed architecture adds to its character.
Customer Reviews
With family visiting from Australia, who wanted to experience a typical English pub lunch, we chose to eat here on Boxing Day. We certainly were not disappointed…. the atmosphere was wonderful, and the food excellent…the staff friendly and helpful,in many ways. I would return happily.
What a fabulous building, hard to believe it’s been moved from its original location. I don’t think you will find such an atmospheric environment to enjoy a pint. Head to the top floor where there is a lovely vaulted ceiling.. service from a QR ordering system is swift even at peak service times. Take the time to read up on the history while you are there.
