About
A traditional pub with a long history, this Grade II-listed alehouse is known for its well-kept real ales, including porter and plum varieties, alongside a selection of gin. The bar stocks cask beers in good condition, with a wide choice available. Occasionally, pickled eggs are served, though food is not always available. The interior retains an old-fashioned character, reflecting its status as one of the city’s surviving ale pubs. The management team are noted for their approachability.
Customer Reviews
A truly fun, cozy pub that was rockin’ on an early Friday afternoon. Full of groups of friends catching up over some fine ales. Rustic is an understatement. This place has seen its share of time and patrons. Young, friendly guy at the bar explained some of their cask options, of which there are many. Plenty of regular draft, too. An absolute classic of a pub that I fear will disappear based on the age of the clientele.
Great little Manchester ale house with decent real ale
This is one of the finest surviving Ale Pubs in Manchester city centre. This gem has been grade 2 listed since 1974 & is well worth seeking out. The current management team are very friendly & helpful. Beers are stocked from far & wide including some unusual regional specials, eg Neptune from Maghull, that you are unlikely to find elsewhere in the city centre. Looking forward to my next visit Cheers !
