Duress, misrepresentation, unprofessional staff, and dirty vehicle, rent at your own risk!!! I rented a Volvo XC90 from 28/12/25 to 30/12/25, and the pickup experience was definitely poor for the rental of a rather premium vehicle. I was served by branch manager Nick and his assistant Mohammad. I was coerced into purchasing additional insurance. For the lack of a better description, Mohammad attempted to "scare" us by informing us that "it is company policy" we will have to pay £2250 for EVERY SINGLE scratch on the vehicle on return, and that purchasing the insurance will limit the amount to £250, regardless of the number of scratches on the vehicle. Additionally, he tried to provide us with an example of another van which was recently returned, proudly stating that he charged the van renter ~£20,000 for scratches/damages to the van. When asked for any written proof of this "company policy", he struggled to provide anything, but ultimately managed to direct me to the Enterprise website, which states that "The excess on vehicle hire is £1750 - £2250* (depending on the type of vehicle). You can reduce this to just £100 - £250 by purchasing Excess Protection.". As seen, a plain reading of this shows that there is nowhere which states that the excess is £2250 PER INCIDENT/SCRATCH. Upon further confirmation with the branch manager Nick, he merely dismissed my concern, and EXPLICITLY acknowledged (which I do have a voice recording of) that the branch policy is inconsistent with the policy stated on the Enterprise website. Nick also promised me that he will send me an email highlighting the inconsistency on the day itself so that I could feedback this to Enterprise, which unfortunately never came. Nevertheless, I ended up purchasing the insurance under duress to limit my potential liability. However, upon receiving the rental agreement, the additional insurance did not limit my liability as per what Mohammad represented previously, which was £250 regardless of the number of scratches on the vehicle. Instead, the rental agreement stated "DAMAGE/THEFT EXCESS £ 250.00 / Incident". After receiving the vehicle, the vehicle was in a mess, which should not be the standard for a premium vehicle. The front cup holders were dirty, and there was rubbish under the front passenger seat. Overall, a very poor experience. What is more appalling is that Mohammad still requested for 5 star review upon the return of the vehicle. Shameless!
I went there on the 28th Dec 9.45am to pick up our rent car. The staff there is very busy but very accommodating and tried to give the best service possible. I got the car after 45 minutes but I'm okay with it since there are many customers during the time and I'm not rushing. Annndd, I got my car upgraded which is always a pleasant for me. The girl at the counter is very helpful and nice (I can't remember her name but she's an MU fan. who doesn't?) and her colleague, a tall guy with sexy lips (yes, I didn't recall his name either) explaining on the car I'm about to rent including the options for insurance. Thank you so much!
I recently rented a van from Enterprise Car Rental on Bury New Road, and I had an excellent experience! I booked over the phone, and the team — especially Nick, Holly, Maya, and the rest of the staff — provided fantastic personalised service from start to finish. They even offered me an electric transit van, which was perfect for the local miles I needed to cover and meant I didn’t have to worry about refuelling. The van was clean, spacious, and surprisingly easy to drive. Even though I was a bit hesitant about using an electric van, it turned out to be smooth, simple, and fully equipped with everything you’d expect in 2025. The team also stayed open late so I could return the van and collect my car, which was massively appreciated. Huge thank you to Maya, Nick, Holly, and the whole team for making the experience so easy and stress-free. Highly recommended.
