I have never experienced service as unprofessional as this venue. The bouncers are incredibly rude and intimidating they just stand there staring at you, making you feel completely uncomfortable. After making me queue for 20 minutes, they checked and approved my ID, only to then suddenly tell me I couldn’t go in. One of them even grabbed my arm, which is absolutely unacceptable. It’s clear they think it’s “powering” to look down on women and treat them this way. Instead of focusing on giving customers a safe and enjoyable experience, they seem more interested in belittling people and flexing authority. When I raised my concerns, management didn’t take responsibility and instead tried to push the blame back onto me exactly the same pattern I’ve noticed in other reviews. There are far better venues around where women are treated with basic respect. Girls especially AVOID this place.

I am extremely disappointed and disgusted by the blatant racism we experienced at 42s last night. My friends and I (all white) were easily admitted, but the only Black girl in our group was arbitrarily denied entry for being "too drunk," despite being completely sober. When we confronted the bouncer about her discriminatory behavior and called her racist, she laughed in our faces, as if our concerns were a joke. This kind of blatant discrimination is unacceptable and creates a hostile environment. I urge others to reconsider supporting a venue that condones such behaviour.

Great music, not too badly priced with a student card at £7. The queue usually isn't too long to get in. Drinks are well priced for a central Manchester venue as well. Toilets could do with being a bit cleaner but this is usually the case in clubs.
