Dear Sailor Cocktail Bar

Before even entering, me and my two friends were accused of being racist? Never step foot in the place before and I can say we are definitely not racist. To then overhear the other bouncer saying it was ‘a joke’. Queues for the toilets were awful waited 20 mins and as soon as we got on there a member of staff is banging on our door?? Atmosphere is terrible, really small ‘club’ with dirty looks left right and centre for trying to have a good time. Maybe if you care about image and want to be harassed and accused it’s perfect for you but I’d say I am extremely disappointed and will never return lol. The decoration is the only thing I liked about this place, avoid avoid avoid.

DO NOT GO TO DEAR SAILOR – VIOLENT BOUNCERS Last night, my friends and I had a table booked at Dear Sailor. We were there for around 45 minutes when a huge fight broke out. During the chaos, a bouncer kicked my partner out for supposedly being “too drunk,” even though he’d only had one drink and wasn’t causing any issues. What made the situation even more confusing was that my partner was perfectly coherent — he spoke to other bouncers afterwards and was more than capable of clearly explaining himself and the situation, so the reason for removing him made no sense at all. I stepped outside to check on him, and before I could even speak to him properly, the same bouncer came out, opened the door, and violently attacked him — trying to tackle him to the ground with absolutely no provocation from either of us. When I tried to break up the fight, I got caught in the middle, and my friend — a girl who’s much smaller than me — also ended up caught in the situation. The same bouncer slapped her, causing her to fall to the floor. In the space of just 20 minutes, this bouncer had assaulted two different customers. Do not go to this bar. Whoever is responsible for hiring security clearly did not carry out proper due diligence, given that they’ve employed aggressive, rude, and unpredictable bouncers. It’s a shame, because this isn’t the first time I’ve heard of Deansgate bouncers abusing their power and assaulting customers who’ve simply had a drink. We are currently filing a police report regarding this behaviour.

Awful place… We travelled from Birmingham to Manchester for our Christmas night out. Had booked a table and we were taken to a tiny round table in the middle of the bar area. Table was filthy and soaking wet! We spoke to the owner who said I could charge 4 grand for this table so you all paying £100 each is cheap so sit down and be quiet! The atmosphere was horrible felt like a fight would start at any minute. Myself and my friend went to the toilet and a man was in there who went into a female cubicle! I told the security staff and he said to me so what he needs the toilet I was horrified! To sum this place up I can actually say this is the worst place I’ve ever been too! I never write bad reviews but I have to give my opinion and experience about this place as it was truly awful this place doesn’t even deserve one star
