After years of walking past The Alchemist in Manchester and being drawn in by the intriguing décor, I was visiting Manchester, and we just had to go! We'd hoped to snag one of the outdoor tables, but they were fully booked, but doesn't matter, because the dimly lit interior turned out to be ideal for a date night. All moody lighting and intimate corners, it's the sort of place where you actually want to linger. The evening took a fun turn when we secretly ordered cocktails for each other. My partner surprised me with the Hipflask Sloe-Jam, which came with a brilliant twist: keep the actual flask as a souvenir or get a free refill. I went for the flask, what better memento from a great night out? The Chicken Katsu Curry was perfectly decent, but nothing to write home about. The katsu sauce was the thickest I've had anywhere, though there wasn't quite enough of it, leaving the rice a touch dry. The Chocolate Cookie S'Moores, however, absolutely delivered, not overly sweet, with the torched marshmallow adding just the right texture and flavour. But let's be honest, the drinks are the real reason to visit. After dessert, we stayed at the bar and worked our way through several more cocktails. Each one was inventive, beautifully presented, and genuinely delicious. Didn't take any pictures as we're enjoying the night to the fullest.
Nice atmosphere and the service was great with Sammy! Food and cocktail top. The view into Salford Quays is very special in the night. Definitely, we will be back💫
Had a great meal on Sunday before visiting the Lowry theatre in the evening. Their gluten free options and knowledge is brilliant and having been before we know that it’s safe which is great. The staff were all really lovely, made us feel welcome and helped us work through options. Would definitely recommend for those visiting Salford quays/media city.
