About
The Milton Manchester Hotel occupies a converted office building near Eccles tram stop, with straightforward access to buses and trains. Rooms are known for being spacious and immaculately clean, with comfortable carpets and simple furnishings. A cooked English breakfast is served, and the downstairs bar provides affordable meals. Despite the unassuming exterior, guests frequently note the welcoming reception staff and the value for money. The hotel caters primarily to concert-goers visiting the nearby AO Arena, with late check-ins accommodated when needed. Signage can be minimal, but the functional layout serves its purpose for short stays.
Customer Reviews
Stayed one night as we're going to a concert at the AO Arena. On first sight, I thought OMG what have I done...but pleasantly surprised with how nice reception was. The member of staff who dealt with our check-in was pleasant. We were given a room on the 14th floor, OK if you don't mind heights. But upon exiting the lift, there were no signs to direct you to where the rooms were...guess work. As others have mentioned, the lifts do not correlate with the actual floor you need and have to use stairs, not good with luggage. The room itself was large. The bed was two divans pushed together, but the mattress was comfy, but with the bed being so large, it was difficult to get out of bed. The pillows were too flat for a restful sleep. Again, to get to the restaurant for breakfast, you had to go to level 2 but then back up a flight of stairs to actually get to the restaurant. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Parking was £2 a night, which is extremely good value, as I have paid extortionate prices in other hotels. Would I stay here again.... yes. Don't be put off by the exterior of the building or it's location.
Could not fault the cleanliness of the bedroom, the staff in their level of friendliness or the price. Negatives - There is little to no signage inside to explain where to go. The building is multi usage, and it's not that welcoming when you arrive as a hotel guest. Without the sign outside, you could easily think you were in the wrong place. The main hallway/lift areas also had an unpleasant smell. - If you are a wheelchair user, or have mobility needs, I cannot see how it would be possible to stay here. The lifts for the building stop between hotel floors, meaning you have to go up or down 8 to 10 stairs to access the hotel reception, breakfast area and bedrooms. There may be arrangements to get around this, or a specific floor that has a stair lift access to bedroom sublevel, if you had an access need, but I didn't see any evidence of this or notice it being mentioned when I booked the room. - The mattress was quite soft - it felt like this was because the mattress was old, not that it was soft on purpose. - The pillows were very thin. - There was no air conditioning system in the room, and while the windows did open, it was then quite noisy. - Feels like a strange one, but there are no teaspoons in the room with the tea and coffee making facilities, just wooden stirrers. Positives + Bathroom in the room was nicely done, felt like a new renovation + Shower pressure was good and temperature was consistent + Staff were friendly Overall, while the hotel is in a good location to get into central Manchester, and is a really good price, I would prefer to pay more for better facilities.
Not for the faint hearted. ||From the front, i wasnt even sure we was at a hotel. Before even stepped into the hotel, i already tripped over the 1 bar which is supposed to stop cars gaining access to the car park at night, i guess? ||So to get to reception, you have to go to the second floor, but then down the stairs? - this layout was the same on every floor so if you are a wheelchair user, this isnt for you. You will not be able to get to the reception, the bar or the restaurant so please avoid. ||I dont know whether it was because it was busy (It didn't feel it), or what, but we was roomed on the 12th floor. If you're not a fan of heights, again, you run the risk of overseeing nothing.||Lifts didnt fill me with confidence of safety and the hotel as a whole looks like someones bought it as their first business venture with zero business knowledge. ||The room itself was clean, the door alarms if it isn't shut securely. Something I feel should feature in all hotels. But for £130, i wont be returning. I would have paid this for a City Centre hotel quite happily just for the location, but you're very much in the middle of nowhere with what appeared to be very little.
