It features a fireplace, adding character to the space, and hosts open mic sessions. Situated near the cathedral and within walking distance of the city centre, it remains one of the few pubs in the area with a focus on maintaining a local feel. The venue has a longstanding reputation, with ties to notable historical figures.
Customer Reviews
Great old fire place! And apparently visited by Karl Marx and freideichs Engels...no doubt for great discussions on their political views...fantastic place!
I went for the first time yesterday, what a cracking pub. Friendly and welcoming staff behind the bar, really cheerful regulars and a great selection of ales, ciders and spirits. I've passed the place for years without popping in, I can't believe what I've been missing.
Good traditional pub with selection of real ales. Friendly clientelle with open mike sessions. Real fire in winter. If you want glitz bling false decor don't bother but what was good enough for Marx and Engels who allegedly drank here it should be good enough for you.
