Manchester Metropolitan University Library
About
A university library serving Manchester Metropolitan University, this space is known for its seminar facilities and organisation, hosting events such as those run by the IMechE. It features private study rooms for individual or group work and provides access to computers, particularly on upper floors, catering to students with creative or technology-focused courses. The building’s layout includes dedicated areas for collaborative work, though demand for these spaces can be high. Lunch options are available on-site for those attending events or studying. The library remains a key resource for students, particularly those requiring access to specialised software or quiet study environments.

I've been at MMU for the past 5 years. The fact that this library has not been improved over the course of the last year is a crime, it's like a labyrinth of white plastered conference rooms and when busy, almost impossible to find a computer to use / private space. Its only 2 stars because of the lovely staff, I feel genuinely sorry for the first years who have to arrive at this 'library', I know MMU is better than this.
EVERY time I book a private study room someone is in there. I have personal meetings I need to attend online and it’s so embarrassing having to ask someone to leave when they’re working. Plz plz plz fix this, you could put card scanners on the door that only allow people in with the same student number they used to complete the booking. I have no other private space and this is happening every time now.
I only went for a day so can’t comment on university courses. The seminar I attended was excellent from the IMechE. The organisation the building phenomenal and facilities superb big shout out as well for the lunch which was beyond expectations.
