About
A restored former Whitbread pub serving cask ales and elevated pub food, including Sunday roasts and oysters. The kitchen focuses on dishes with Thai influences, such as those from the Bangkok Diner’s Club pop-up. The interior features candlelit tables and sourdough bread accompanies meals. There are regular deals on drinks. The pub has reopened after years of closure and draws a mix of locals and visitors, particularly after nearby football matches.
Customer Reviews
I had the pleasure of dining at the Bangkok Diner’s Club at Edinburgh Castle in Ancoats, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The menu is a thoughtful take on Thai cuisine—beautifully presented, rich in flavour, and clearly prepared with care. Each dish brought a perfect balance of spice, freshness, and texture. The crispy pork belly in a rich, savoury sauce was a standout, complemented perfectly by the chicken fat fried rice and vibrant vegetables. The sides, from the delicate greens to the light, fluffy omelette, added depth and variety to the meal, making it feel both comforting and elevated. The atmosphere inside the Edinburgh Castle adds to the charm—warm, intimate lighting and a relaxed yet stylish setting that makes it ideal for both a casual night out or a special occasion. Service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive, which really enhanced the overall dining experience. Bangkok Diner’s Club manages to deliver authentic Thai flavours while giving the dishes a refined edge, and it’s easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Manchester recently. Highly recommended.
Visited the bar on Saturday night, was super busy, great vibes and atmosphere, the staff were still on it and very helpful. Was chatting to the guy who runs the pub who’s lovely, super down to earth and great crack! It’s the kind of place that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The crowd is a good mix of regulars and newcomers, which gives the place a hearty lived-in feel rather than a curated one. Solid drink selection - nothing too gimicky and you defo get what you pay for.
Decent pub about 12 minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station. Three cask beers on handpump when I visited. Busy after the Spurs game at the Etihad. This former Whitbread pub had been closed for many years but after a major refurbishment reopened as a pub on 14th November 2019 with a restaurant on the first floor. It has been tastefully renovated and as you enter from the corner door there is a long and impressive marble topped bar opposite. There are tables around the bar and high stools at the bar. In the area behind the bar there is more seating. The house beer is brewed by Ringwood and there is also an extensive selection of craft beers, foreign beers, whiskies and gins.
