Clubhouse Bar & Restaurant

Came here for Valentines Night, we preordered our food so knew what we were getting already. Got a bottle of prosecco giving to us for the table which was nice. Starters were both good, I got salt and pepper spring rolls, my partner got halloumi fries and we couldn’t fault them, our mains on the other hand were extremely disappointing. I ordered a salt and pepper chicken burger, it was huge, which of course isn’t a bad thing, but unfortunately the batter was incredibly thick and just slid off as I cut into it so I was basically eating plain chicken, there was hardly any “salt and pepper” taste to it whatsoever and it states it came with seasoned fries but they definitely weren’t seasoned. My partner ordered the salt and pepper burrito, he said it was mainly just plain boiled rice and cheese and again, no “salt and pepper” taste to it. I had a bite of his and shockingly there was a bit more taste to it than what I had for mine but the seasonings were hugely lacking, making it all pretty bland, and I personally think I could have made it better myself… we both ordered the malteser brownies for pudding and they were pretty good so redeemed it a bit there. The service between meals wasn’t the quickest which didn’t bother us too much, but the table next to us were completely forgotten about for about an hour… Overall, going off that experience, we wouldn’t be coming back or would recommend. However I would be willing to come back on a different occasion where it maybe isn’t so busy and isn’t a special occasion to see if it was just a bad night due to the high demand.

I booked my mother’s funeral wake at the clubhouse for the 25th July. I couldn’t have hoped for such a great day. Everything was great from the moment we arrived until we left. The venue is perfect, the buffet brilliant and plenty of choice. Sorry I didn’t get any pictures, but take it from me it was very good. Very friendly staff and they couldn’t do enough for us.

Gave this a second chance, however, service not very good again. Burger was lovely. Unfortunately, pudding was slapped down and told no ice cream. Very irritating as our food was pre ordered. You would except a higher standard and no attitude. Then the best laugh was when we had all paid being told there was several meals and puds not paid for with attitude. Five minutes later told this was a mistake. No apology. Disgraceful.
