I assisted a neighbour with learning difficulties with the collection of his car on the designated collection day. The guy who handed over the car had driven it from Grimsby to Carlisle and was very cheerful, polite and helpful on handover. I requested sight of the service log book which showed it had last been serviced 14 months earlier. When I brought this to the attention of the handover driver, he suggested that the car would have received a "good checkover" by Cinch prior to the purchase. As a precaution, we took the car to our local Toyota dealership, in an attempt to gain confirmation of a recent service. As they could not confirm it had been serviced an appointment was made for them to carry out a four year service. Our neighbour has subsequently received an email from Cinch with details of MOT and service history, which shows a four year service had been carried out two months prior to purchase. Had the logbook been up to date on handover, it would have saved us a lot of time and effort.
