About
A small aviation museum near Carlisle Airport with a focus on British aircraft, including an Avro Vulcan bomber that visitors can board. Run by volunteers, it features Cold War-era jets, cockpit displays, and memorabilia highlighting local aviation history like Spadeadam and the Bluestreak programme. The collection includes several planes displayed outdoors alongside two indoor exhibition spaces. A gift shop sells aviation-related items. The museum is known for hands-on access to aircraft and detailed information from knowledgeable volunteers, particularly about the Vulcan.

Lovely little gem of a museum. Largely an outside museum with about half a dozen planes to see. Another two main indoor sections, one of which has a few more planes and a lot of memorabilia. Being able to climb inside a Vulcan bomber is worth the admission price alone though. Just breathtaking. The guides really know their stuff and are more than happy to discuss the place and the equipment with you.
Quite a small aviation museum but one with an interesting collection of aircraft and some excellent displays telling the story of aviation in the area, including Spadeadam and the Bluestreak. Unlike most museums you can go inside a few of the aircraft, including the Vulcan. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable, and the admission price is very good value. An undiscovered gem of a museum which is well worth a visit. There's a gift shop with souvenirs and model kits and refreshments.
This is an absolutely fantastic place to visit. 4 adults. Plenty of aircraft to see especially the Arco Vulcan B.2 XJ823 which we booked to go on board & talk with a volunteer about the plane. Apart from the planes there is a large selection of memorabilia, plenty of information & a small interesting gift shop. Brilliant, friendly well informed volunteers. We will definitely visit again with other friends. Thank you to all involved
