James Steel Monument
About
A bronze statue commemorating James Steel, a former mayor of Carlisle, stands in the city centre along the high street. The monument has become a minor landmark for passersby, though it is currently partially obscured by fencing. The sculpture occasionally draws attention for its weathered appearance, with some noting it could benefit from cleaning. Despite this, it remains a point of interest for those exploring the area.
Customer Reviews
This sculpture is hidden behind some fences so it is a bit difficult to see at the moment. This is still an interesting spot to see while walking along the high street.
Another statue standing in town centre. Bit dirty and need a cleaning.
I don’t understand how you can be mayor for 12 months… and THEY GIVE YOU A STATUE?? What the hell?? And yes, it needs a clean :)
