About
The William Lowther Statue stands near Carlisle’s historic Citadel gate, marking one of the first landmarks visitors encounter when arriving by train. This bronze sculpture commemorates the 19th-century MP and features intricate craftsmanship. Though weathered, its presence adds to the city’s collection of historical monuments. The statue occupies a prominent spot in the city centre, serving as a quiet nod to Carlisle’s political heritage.
Customer Reviews
If visitors arrive in Carlisle by train, this statue is located in the first historic part of the city they will encounter. The statue and the pedestal are in need of cleaning, as the inscription is currently barely legible. Unfortunately, the benches situated in the area behind the statue attract undesirables and therefore should be removed.
An interesting sculpture that has some interesting craftsmanship. This is one of the many interesting sites dotted throughout the city exploring its history.
Just one of statues around city. Its the main one right next to Citadel city gate.
