While my husband and I were on holiday, his car broke down and we brought it to this garage. They repaired it quickly and efficiently at a very fair price. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the whole process. We highly recommend this garage to everyone!

I bought my car from Huttons earlier this year in March, and my experience has been nothing short of frustrating from start to finish. Shortly after buying the car, the window regulator stopped working. I reported it and was told to come in when the part arrived. I live 21 miles away, so I made the trip, waited for hours — only to be told they’d ordered the wrong part. I had to come back another day once the correct one arrived. When they finally fitted it, the window was misaligned, causing terrible wind noise. I didn’t complain at the time, but ended up paying another mechanic to fix it properly. A few weeks later, I noticed a metal grinding noise. Both a Volkswagen and Audi specialist suspected a timing chain issue. When I took it back to Huttons, their mechanic claimed it was the flywheel instead. They offered to repair it, but the so-called warranty they sold me (the cheapest possible option) refused to pay out — even when Huttons themselves tried to claim on it. I was left effectively without any warranty protection. They gave me a courtesy car, which I had for 10 days, but my own car was with them for 23 days. Out of nowhere, I got a message saying I had to return the courtesy car that same day because their insurance would no longer cover me — unless I paid for my own insurance. No warning at all. Completely unprofessional. A couple of months after getting my car back, new issues started — the car began jerking and shaking when changing gears (it’s an automatic). I called Huttons and the mechanic was outright rude, telling me to “take it somewhere else.” I took it to a specialist in Newcastle who diagnosed a mechatronics rebuild and clutch replacement. I emailed the invoice to Huttons on 29th August as requested and was told the owner would get in touch — but I’ve had no response whatsoever since. Overall, this has been a terrible experience. Poor communication, poor customer service, and a complete lack of care once they’ve sold you the car. I genuinely regret buying from Huttons and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Just bought my 4th car from here. The customer service is excellent, the car prices are competitive and I've never had any issues with any of the cars I've purchased from this lovely family business. Can't recommend highly enough.
