Penrith and Eden Museum
Opening Hours
About
Housed in a 17th-century former school building on Middlegate, this museum showcases Penrith’s history through artefacts spanning geology, prehistory, and the modern era. Roman finds and well-documented displays feature alongside items from nearby Allerdale. The collection includes a mix of local history and culture, with interactive elements for children. Entry is by donation. The building itself, once Robinson’s School, served as an educational site for centuries before becoming a museum.
Customer Reviews
First class (and free) museum plenty to learn and some very old artefacts. Some stuff from out West into Allerdale too which is nice, since that's where I live. Plenty of activities for children too though it's small enough they ought not to get too restless. Can't believe I've never been before!
Might be the smallest museum I have been so far but once ur in then ur amazed with well documented history and culture and artifacts of history must visit the place to re live the memories around Penrith history and culture
This museum was for a ling time on my things to do-list. As a big archeology fanatic, I was hoping to find there some Roman artefacts! Nice displays either humidity and temperature checker. There is a bit from all sorts of things.
