Elegant 19th century clock tower dedicated to the Musgraves of Eden Hall. It was restored in 1978 and proudly stands in the centre of the market square, surrounded by attractive buildings.
This neo-Gothic clock tower was erected in 1861 in memory of Philip Musgrave, the son of Sir George and Lady Musgrave of nearby Edenhall. It stands in the middle of a large market square surrounded by impressive old buildings. There was no market taking place on the day I visited - just a nice flower and plant stall, and a vendor selling jacket potatoes - but there are plenty of shops and cafes in the little streets and yards leading off the square. It's only a couple of minutes walk from here to St Andrew's Church and the Giant's Grave.
A really cool and historical clock tower in the center of Penrith. Surrounded by beautiful buildings. We loved our visit.
