About

A 12th-century peel tower set within a working farmyard, Clifton Hall is a small but intriguing historical site managed by English Heritage. The tower retains original features like exposed beams, fireplaces, and a spiral staircase leading through its open interior. Visitors can explore inside when unlocked, with glimpses of its medieval structure visible even from the exterior. Parking is available nearby, though limited, making it a quick stop for those passing through. Its unassuming farm setting adds to the charm of this compact piece of local history.

A beautiful old peel tower/castle without floorboards but many floor joists. This creates a big space that you can view from the spiral staircase. Small place but interesting.

Just happened to see the sign for Clifton Hall as I was driving on the road past the church. Hidden near the farm, very interesting, you could ask for the key to look in but I just looked through the window. Amazon condition in and out! I parked near the church and walked down the lane x

C12 tower in the middle of a farm- yard! A quick 15 min visit is all, but easy access by foot parking opposite St Cuthberts Church in village.
