About

A long-standing butcher in Cockermouth, this family-run shop is known for its locally sourced meats, including proper Cumberland sausage and T-bone steaks. They prepare burger patties and have a hog roast service. The deli counter stocks a range of produce, and the pies—some with peppery notes—are mentioned alongside sandwiches. Gravy features in some dishes. Regulars return for the selection and service.

⸻ As a butcher myself and the owner of a butcher shop in London, I always make a point of popping into local butchers when I’m visiting a new area. I dropped in here to see the guys and honestly, what a fantastic team. You can tell straight away by the quality of the meat that they take real pride in what they do. Everything looked spot on. Proper produce, handled with care and respect. The service was unbelievable, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. It’s a real family business too, and it was great to see the dad behind the counter. That says everything. There’s passion in this place, and it shows in every detail. If you’re in the area, support these guys. Incredible food, brilliant people, and a business built on pure passion. Keep going. 👏🥩

My family has been frequenting this butcher for many many years and the quality of meats are second to none. Most recently we had the burger patties and it was prepared to perfection. Whenever it is BBQ night, we never fail to call on Lindsay & Sons.

Upping the prices whilst decreasing the number of chips given. 5.75 for a pie with very little gravy and a tiny portion of chips is a joke. The foods nice but the portion sizes are ridiculous for the price
