A short busy walk with absolutely stunning views. Parking was a challenge when I visited midweek between Christmas and New Year. The closest car park at the lakeside was packed, so I tried the central car park. 3-4 circles of the car park there and I managed to get a space. I opted for 6 hours (£9.00) to give me time for something to eat, a browse around Keswick town, and time at the lakeside (Derwentwater). I walked alongside Derwentwater on the Friars Crag path, a National Trust facility. There are benches periodically on the 0.75 mile (km: 1.2) route. The terrain is level and flat, with steps and inclines in place to access parts of the stoney beach areas when water levels are lower. With there being no boat tours when I visited I was able to access the jetties for views of the Lake, too. There are pay to use toilet facilities at the lakeside car park and there's a café/restaurant at the Theatre by the Lake.
Beautiful scenic area, very easy to get to, with some nice pubs/restaurants in the area. Great little spot to take photos, as the clouds were moving in you could see them coming across the fells which looked fantastic. Little one loved it also as lots of ducks, swans, geese & seagulls that like to be fed so that was also fun. Would recommend checking it out & id definitely go again.
Lovely part of the lake walk around Derwent water..great view point with lots of photo opportunities
