Parked up, walked to the machine, which needed the reg of the car. Walked back to the car, took a photo of the reg and walked back to the machine. Put in the number, length of stay etc. Tried to pay. Realised there was no contactless option. Read the “how to pay” board which included apps, QR codes and other stuff I’m not going to put on my phone for the sake of a quick visit to a shop in a strange town. So, I walked back to my car, put on my seatbelt and drove out of the car park. THOSE SEVEN MINUTES JUST COST ME *£90*!!!!! SERIOUSLY. ABSOLUTE SCAM ARTISTS.
We're never parking here again. They issued a hefty fine when we left to park elsewhere after just over 8 minutes because, despite our efforts, and a £3 loss we couldn't get a ticket. I believe there are many unhappy customers and it reflects badly on Whitehaven tourism. I am planning to raise my concerns with the IPC (International Parking Community), my MP and the Tourist Board.
Disgusted, total rip off. Couldn't pay on line as requested , wouldn't accept my address. Didn't have cash, tried ringing my wife for cash, no phone signal. A couple of helpful guys gave me the £2.00 ,for the hour. I've now received a £100 fine. Although on my ticket I was in good time to leave, they had clocked me on entry. Since it took 10 minutes trying to pay this took me over the 1 hour. I believe its a scam to rob people, unless you have cash, DO NOT USE THIS CARPARK. I won't be using it again even if I have cash.How sad that a town that surely needs custom should have a privately run carpark such as this. ( I intend to appeal but having read other reviews I don't hold out much hope of a settlement in my favour.I wanted to give - 0 star rating but couldn't post with a 1.
