My husband and I traveled to Manchester earlier this month to go to a concert at the arena. We were lucky enough to find Salt Dog Slim's early on our stay. The bar felt like all of our favorite dive punk bars at home. The staff were top tier, fun and friendly folks treated us like friends. We had the best time there - great music, great atmosphere. If you love dive/basement bars and shows - this is the place for you.
Don't be deterred by the exterior. While the entrance and the descent down the stairs look intentionally rough, they act as a deceptive facade for what is an excellent hidden gem. Once inside, the space transforms into a rock bar with a compact footprint but a massive amount of personality. The atmosphere is welcoming rather than intimidating, anchored by staff who are genuinely friendly. The cocktails are well-executed and hit the spot. If you appreciate a venue that prioritizes character over polish, I’d highly recommend it.
