Please read this if you are considering going to this salon. I hope you make the right decision by going elswhere! I had an extremely distressing experience at S&R Hair and Beauty, and even though this happened around a year ago, I feel it’s important to warn others. I visited the salon on 10 December 2024 for medium half-head highlights, toner, a keratin treatment, and a haircut. Before my appointment, my hair had black natural roots with faded brown ends from an old balayage. My hair was healthy and in good condition After the appointment, my hair was completely ruined. Issues with the colour: • The highlights were very blunt, chunky, and started far too low from the root, with no blending at all. While I was still in the chair, I told the stylist that the highlights were too chunky. Nothing was corrected, she only wet my hair and applied a tiny amount of toner, which made no difference • My roots turned bright orange, despite being naturally black before the appointment. When I raised this during the appointment, the same toner was applied again, which did nothing. • When I returned to the salon to complain, I was told the orange roots were “my fault” and that I “must have done something”, which was completely untrue. I even had photos showing my roots were orange while I was still in the salon. • The highlights were multiple inconsistent colours; yellow/orange/silver/brown/black I asked for layers, but the cut was extremely poor. The layers were blunt with no blending, and when my hair was brought forward, there were obvious short pieces next to very long ones. This wasn’t noticeable at the time because my hair was styled in tight curls, which masked the uneven cut. The most concerning part of this experience was that bleach was left on my scalp for nearly 3 hours, resulting in a painful chemical burn. I repeatedly told the stylist that my scalp was burning badly, but she refused to wash it off, saying she didn’t want the colour to be “too dark”. Instead, she applied a gel and gave me a cooling pack, which did not help at all. The pain was excruciating, and my scalp became damaged and blistered. The stylist went by the name “Rose”, whose real name is Shahla Ahmadi. I later spoke to medical professionals and was advised on treating the chemical burn. I was unable to get my hair corrected elsewhere for some time due to the condition of my scalp. When I returned to the salon on the 12th December (2days later), there were two reasonable outcomes; either properly fix the damage or issue a refund. The only solution offered was to apply a black toner to my roots, which would have meant adding more chemicals to an already burned scalp. I refused for health reasons and because I no longer trusted this stylist. I requested a refund of £130 for the highlights and toner (I said they could keep the £50 for the keratin treatment). When I asked for my money back, I was laughed at, which was incredibly upsetting given the physical pain and emotional distress I was experiencing. To make matters worse, during this visit I was subjected to a racist remark: “I deal with this all the time — all Indians and Pakistanis are the same.” This comment was shocking, offensive, and completely unacceptable. I later visited another salon, who told me this was one of the worst hair jobs they had ever seen, and that leaving bleach on the scalp for that length of time alone was sufficient reason for a refund. I did pursue legal action against the salon following this incident. Unfortunately, I was unable to claim compensation because the stylist informed her insurer not to get involved, and she does not have any assets in her name. As a result, despite the physical injury and distress caused, I was left without compensation. After 13 months of feeling insecure I have now finally been able to get my hair fixed This experience affected me both physically and mentally I would strongly advise anyone considering this salon to think very carefully. No one should leave a hair appointment in pain, distressed and feeling disrespected!

Throughout the process, her friendly demeanor made me feel completely at ease. It's evident that the staff at S&R Salon genuinely cares about their clients and strives to create a positive experience. One of the highlights of my visit was the complimentary hand massage I received. It wasn't just a standard add-on; it felt like a thoughtful gesture that demonstrated the salon’s commitment to client satisfaction. It was the perfect way to show kindness, and I left feeling pampered and rejuvenated. The massage was relaxing and made the nail service feel even more special, reinforcing that S&R Salon goes above and beyond for its customers.
